The American Cancer Society of Southern Nevada (ACSoSN) hosts and the AMTA-Nevada Chapter attends its annual Relay For Life (RFL) event on September 21st, 2024, at Bruce Trent Park in Las Vegas, NV. In its 8th year, the AMTA-Nevada Chapter’s Community Engagement Committee and its Co-Chair, Tom Dougherty, organized chair massage sessions, given from 2p – 8p by Nevada Chapter Members to the Attendees of the RFL.
On a sunny, Saturday afternoon, ACSoSN provided an event-tent where Tom set up space for his and 5 other Student Members’ massage-chairs; the Nevada Chapter President & Massage Therapy Program Director at Northwest Career College (NCC), Ivy Adams, attended to supervise the NCC-Student Members.
Our chapter’s 6 Members provided 64 chair massages during the 6-hour period in which many of the RFL-Participants and -Staff-members were able to take a few minutes to recharge and leave refreshed, ready to assist ACSoSN in their Mission of raising donations during this event to help fund groundbreaking cancer research and local patient care programs.
