Class Descriptions

Unlocking Computer Shoulder – Eric Stephenson (4 CEHs)

Our practices are full of clients seeking relief from jobs where habitual computer use is required and often ex-acerbated by additional hours “surfing the web.” As therapists, we recognize the prevalence of postural distor-tion and pain patterns associated with computer use. This class focuses on unwinding the cumulative effects of these conditions.


Students will learn:

  • techniques to address kyphosis, medial rotations, and forward head posture
  • the relationship between facilitated and inhibited musculature
  • to recognize myofascial stress lines in clients
  • to empower clients with guidelines for improved ergonomics

Materials required: massage tables, table linens, lubrication, personal towels.

Following the 2012 course “Tips & Techniques from the Pros,” “More Tips from the Pros” features seasoned massage professionals discussing successful practice building techniques AND demonstrating hands on techniques & integration into your massage session.


Students will learn:
Tips on how to develop a successful practices (discussion)—topics to include:

  • A to Z of Business
  • Education
  • License requirements, local and state
  • Marketing Expenses
  • Tax planning
  • Profits

Techniques to add to your massage session (hands-on):

  • Acupressure for pain in the lower legs
  • Osteo-Symmetry of the foot and leg
  • Take home technique for Plantar Fasciitis
  • Acupressure balance flow for stress reduction
  • Addressing Lower Extremity discomfort and dysfunction with Supportive Taping
  • Use of varieties of supportive tape: Rock Tape and Dynamic Tape
  • At least one application of these tapes for the affected area

Materials required: massage tables, table linens, lubrication, personal towels.

Instructor Biographies

Eric Stephenson, LMT NCTMB Director, Massage Education. As Director of Education for imassage, Inc., Eric creates continuing education focused on career longevity for massage schools, spas and professional organizations nationwide. He is a former lead instructor of the Body Therapy Institute in Silk Hope, NC, and The Lexington Healing Arts Academy in Lexington, KY, helping in the design of the hands-on massage curriculum. He has completed The Spirit of Learning®, a 90-hour massage educator training program. His presentations have included the American Massage Therapy National Convention, The International Spa Association Conference, The World Massage Conference and AMTA state conventions. Billie Shea, LMT is a practicing massage therapist for 14 years, a Reiki Master, and serves, since 2005, on the Nevada State Board of Massage Therapists. Her clinic Healing Arts Associates in Carson City, NV, features a chiropractor and several touch therapy practitioners, all under one roof. She volunteers not only for the Nevada Chapter as an Immediate Past President and leader of many hats, but also as Director of Pets for the Homeless, Massage Manager at St Mary’s Center for Health, and on the board of the High Desert Iris Society. Billie is currently writing a book on business and licensing procedures in Nevada. Michelle Viesselman, LMT is a practicing massage therapist for 13 years, Certified Medical Massage Therapist, Crani-al Sacral Therapist, Esthetician, Nutritionist, and Reiki Master. Michelle owns and writes content/books for her continuing education company Thousand Petaled Lotus and works with NCEP and their neurological patients. Her massage therapy practice is rehabilitation-centered and based in Integrity Health and Wellness in Las Vegas, NV. Michelle volunteers for the AMTA-Nevada Chapter, as their 2nd Vice-President and state Delegate.
